The Rural Water Agenda website was launched in March 2026 as a new online community library designed to support rural communities in accessing information and resources related to private water supplies and private wastewater systems.
The website was developed through a collaborative effort between Dr Elizabeth Lawson and Scottish Rural Action.
The project was led by an expert working group, bringing together individuals, community organisations, local authorities, and academic partners. Its creation builds on key findings from WP7 of the Decentralised Water Technologies grant and was supported by an EPSRC Impact Accelerator Award from Newcastle University, with Scottish Rural Action acting as strategic partners.
It is hoped that the platform will provide a central, accessible hub of knowledge to support improved understanding and management of rural water systems.
The Rural Water Agenda site is now fully owned by Scottish Rural Action, who will take it forward as part of their core programme, ensuring its continued development and long-term impact.
