Facilitated workshop on water and wastewater at the 6th European Rural Parliament / 21st-23rd October 2025

,
Elizabeth Lawson and Jaime Amezaga facilitated a workshop on water and wastewater at the 6th European Rural Parliament, which took place in Inverurie, Scotland from the 21st-23rd October 2025.
The workshop was attended by a number of community groups, public sector and industry representatives from across Scotland and wider Europe. Community insight into the current rural Scottish experience was provided through presentations from Nicola Greenall (Tighnabruaich ‘Jobby Free Sea’ campaign) and Robin Worsman (Aberdeenshire citizen scientist). Everyone who participated in the workshop spoke of their experiences with challenges relating to rural water supply and wastewater treatment, and where they considered there were opportunities for future improvements. Outputs from the workshop will feed into the declaration of Inverurie which will be presented to the European Commission.
